  1. Schuylkill Area Community Foundation – (SACF) – Lists various scholarships open exclusively to Blue Mountain High School or Schuylkill County residents. Scholarship deadlines and criteria vary. Specific applications and information can be found at sacfoundation.com, select students, then scholarships OR select students, then award. Specific scholarships listed are:
    • Farm Youth Scholarship Fund – This fund provides scholarships to high school graduates for post-secondary education. Students must have shown an animal at the Schuylkill County Fair as a member of the Schuylkill County 4-H Club or Schuylkill County FFA Chapter.
    • Hunter William Renninger Memorial Scholarship – This fund provides scholarships to a graduating senior of Minersville Area High School and of Blue Mountain High School who throughout his/her high school career has demonstrated a profound respect for the school and local communities and fostered the development of similar attributes in others.
    • James & Mary Rhoades Foundation Scholarship – This fund provides annual scholarships to qualified Schuylkill County high school seniors planning to further their education. Students must exhibit a commitment to education, citizenship, and community.
    • Schuylkill Haven Lions Healthcare Scholarship – This fund provides scholarships to eligible students who are employees or volunteers of the Schuylkill Haven Area EMS or graduates of the Schuylkill Haven Area School District or the Blue Mountain School District to attend institutions of higher education majoring in healthcare related fields.
    • Marie Bossler Phi Delti Kappa Kutztown Chapter Scholarship – This fund provides scholarships to graduating seniors of any Schuylkill County and Berks County high schools who are pursing post-secondary education and majoring in Education.
    • Chester P. Steininger Memorial Fund (Medical) – This fund provides scholarships to a graduate of any Schuylkill County High School who is attending or about to attend an accredited medical school located in the United States. Preference shall be given to students who plan to specialize in the field of Oncology.
    • John Rich Curran Memorial Scholarship – For qualifying graduates of Schuylkill County’s public, private, and parochial high schools who have had an IEP in place at time of their graduation, have maintained a B average, demonstrated community service and have financial need.
  2. PSECU Scholarship – Win one of six scholarships up to $8,000.  Student must be a PSECU member by December 31,2017.  To see if you can qualify as a member go to www.psecu.com/eligibility.  Scholarship application can be downloaded at www.psecu.com/scholarships.  Or call 1-800-237-7328.  Deadline is noon on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.
  3. Console & Hollawell Legal Scholarship – $1,000. Awarded to a student accepted into a legal program (pre-law, paralegal studies, legal assisting, etc.) and holds a 3.0 or higher GPA. Go to: http://www.myinjuryattorney.com/legal-scholarship/  to access the application.  Deadline: July 15, 2018.
  4. Great Valu Markets Scholarship – Each Great Valu Store locations will award a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior in their neighborhood. Have maintained at least a cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  Applications are available only at Great Valu store locations.  Deadline:  March 1, 2018.
  5. 10 Words or Less Scholarship – 1 $500Award.  Deadline: November 1, 2017.  Application available at:  www.studentscholarships.org/scholarship/10258/10_words_or_less_scholarship
  6. Global Lift Equipment Scholarship – 1 award for $500.  Student must submit a short story and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Deadline: June 15, 2018.  Applications can be found at:  www.studentscholarships.org/scholarship/10502/global_lift_equipment_scholarship
  7. Imagine America Scholarship – For any student who will be attending a trade school or career college.  Application can be found at:  www.imagine-america.org.  Select “apply for scholarship” in upper right.
  8. 2018 Profile in Courage Essay Contest – For qualifying students in public, private, and parochial high schools.  Essay can be no more than 1,000 words but must be a minimum of 700 words.  All students must complete and submit a registration form online for student and school information.  Mailed essays for 2018 contest must be postmarked by January 4, 2018.  www.jfklibrary.org/essaycontest
  9. George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay – For any high school student in grades 9th thru 12th interested in the American Revolution.  Must submit an original 800 to 1,200 word essay based on an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution.  Essays are due prior to December 31, 2017.  For more information see Mrs. Carr in Guidance.
