Dear Families,
First grade is ending and the summer is beginning so the last thing you want to think about is 2nd grade! This letter is a heads up on a few things expected for next year, as well as, their needed supplies. So, pin this up on the bulletin board or hang it on the fridge and we’ll see you in August!
Here are some summer tips to help your child get ready for Second grade:
*READ! (Find a topic they like and ask questions as they read.)
*Review all the sight words your child learned in 1st grade.
*Practice their math facts! In 2nd grade we will be doing addition and subtraction with sums/differences up to 20.
*Practice Printing: Letter formation and spacing.
*Practice money and time.
As you do your school shopping this summer, to the best of your ability, bring the listed supplies for the first day of school. (Staples and Wal-mart usually have good deals right before school starts.) Please keep extra supplies at home until needed your child.
