Letter from the Principal
Blue Mountain Elementary East (BMEE) serves a population of approximately 720 students in grades K-5. The average student-teacher ratio is 23:1. In addition to the core curriculum, classes are provided in music, art, library, guidance and physical education by full-time certified teachers. Students special needs are met by several special education teachers providing resource, speech, autism, vision services, and services for the physically and mentally disabled. Additional support in reading/language arts is provided by two Title I teachers. Remedial and enrichment programs are offered during the school day.
The Computer lab is wired for Internet access and during the 2002-2003 school year, a wireless lab was purchased to help meet our growing technology needs.
A healthy relationship between community and school is a vital part of a successful educational program. The community and school work together to strengthen and compliment each other. Our community and parent involvement programs include an active and supportive PTO, a parent volunteer program, a partners in education program known as the Eagle Foundation and after school day care sponsored by our Recreation Department.
The instructional staff is dedicated and committed to quality teaching. There are over 50 experienced and talented teachers with a large percentage of them holding graduate degrees. These professionals are assisted in their pursuit of excellence by a competent and creative support staff. BMEE students consistently score above the state and national averages on achievement tests and the Pennsylvania State Assessment Tests.
The faculty and staff of Blue Mountain Elementary East School are dedicated to working with pupils and parents to achieve the potential of each child. We strive to provide an educational experience that will encourage a positive attitude toward school, learning and self. Our program is designed to provide a firm foundation of the basic skills in an environment of successful learning.
