Letter From Principal

Welcome to Blue Mountain Elementary Cressona, a grade four and five school, located in the heart of Cressona, PA.
With a student population of less than 200 students and a faculty and staff committed to the needs of every student, we are proud to be a part of the Blue Mountain heritage.
Originally built as a high school in 1929, the school later housed elementary students until its close in 1989. At that time the building began to show signs of deterioration and the decision was made to close the school. An increase in district enrollment led to the need to reopen the school and extensive renovations began. Re-opened in 1994, the school housed kindergarten through fifth grade until June 2010, and has since been reconfigured to house all the fourth and fifth grade students for the west end of the school district.
In addition to four of each homeroom, grade 4 and grade 5, we also have two learning support classrooms to support each grade level with co-teaching present. Title One services are provided by a certified reading specialist. Encore teachers instruct students in art, vocal music, instrumental music, enrichment classes and physical education. Library services are provided by a librarian and Guidance services are also available. A technology coordinator assists with technology needs.
Supplemental services such as speech, occupational therapy and other itinerant programs are also available. Medical services are provided by a registered nurse and overseen.
It is our belief that a school is only as successful as its least successful student. To that end our faculty and staff are dedicated to meet the needs of every student within a rigorous curriculum. We seek to include our families as a vital part of the academic program. An active Parent-Teacher Organization provides a variety of activities throughout the year which serves to enhance the academic curriculum. We invite you to visit the school for a hands-on tour. We hope you will find that we live up to our motto-”Where Learning is Our Focus.”
