HS: High School Band

Course Description:

This course is designed to offer students instrumental study through individual and group lessons; instrumental performance of various styles and genres of music in a symphonic band setting; and performance with the addition of visual movement, marching, and/or choreography in a limited marching band setting (Home Football Games Only, Orwigsburg Halloween Parade, Memorial Day Parades within our school district). After-school rehearsals (one day per week at the discretion of the director) and performances (Home Football Games, Halloween and Memorial Day Parades, Holiday Concert, Spring Concert, Graduation) are a requirement for students enrolling in this course.

Students interested in a more advanced marching band experience may choose to audition for the competitive marching band, which is an extra-curricular activity. This ensemble will have a rigorous rehearsal schedule and will travel to away football games, parades, and competitions on a weekly basis during the fall.
